Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists arrested in Jammu and Kashmir

Three terrorists of banned terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen have been arrested in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The police gave this information on Saturday.

Those arrested have been identified as M Abbas Wage, Gauhar Ahmad Mir and Nisar Ahmad Shaikh, all residents of Shopian.

“During the search operation, the police recovered 1 pistol, 2 pistol magazines and 13 live pistol rounds,” the officials said.

“A case under relevant sections has been registered against the arrested terrorist associates,” the officials added.

He said that further investigation is going on in this matter.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police earlier this month arrested six terrorists belonging to banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in a joint operation with the Army.

During the search operation, a huge cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from their possession.

During preliminary investigation, JK Police said that it has emerged that the terrorists were affiliated with banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed and were in touch with cross-border terror operators through various social media platforms.

Nasir Ahmed Sher Gojri, one of the longest surviving terrorists of Hizbul Mujahideen, was arrested by the Shopian Police and the Indian Army in a joint operation in January this year, officials said.

Police said that Nasir Ahmed Sher Gojri alias Kasim Bhai was active since 2017 and is involved in various criminal cases.

On December 31 last year, Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh revealed that there are over 100 foreign terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir.
