Holi 2023: Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates the arrival of spring. Also known as the festival of colors, it is considered to be one of the biggest festivals in India after Diwali. From Braj to Banaras, every region in India makes a distinctive contribution to how this festival is celebrated. For many, it’s a time to let your hair down and have fun. Dancing, singing and throwing colors in the air are an integral part of this festival.
Let us know when the festival of colors is being celebrated this year and how you can celebrate it:
The grand festival of Holi is celebrated for two days in many regions of India. The first day is known as Holika Dahan. This is the day when people light bonfires to commemorate the legend of Holika Dahan. The demonic was burnt on the pyre and her nephew Prahlad was saved.

sip on some coolness
Holi is going to be incomplete without some thandai. This rich, milk-based drink is full of nuts that you’ll need after a long fun-filled morning under the spring sun. All you need to do is check out some easy recipes and make some thandai at home. This is such a simple drink that it is not at all difficult to make from scratch.
dance the morning away
Who says going crazy on the dance floor is only reserved for the evenings? There is nothing more energetic than dancing to the DJ in the morning as Holi colors are thrown in the air. Channel your inner Bollywood star and groove to the popular Holi tracks, which are surely blaring through the speakers.
go crazy with the colors
Speaking of channeling Bollywood, don’t forget to stock up on Holi colours. Skip the water fights and opt for some shades that are gentle on your skin. That way you can maximize the fun while minimizing any damage to the environment. After all, a fun day of celebration shouldn’t involve wasting a lot of water.
have some gujiya
Every festival in India has mouth-watering dishes to serve. The festival of colors is no exception. From Malpua to Kachori, there is so much to choose from that it will be difficult. If you want to start with something, maybe have some gujiyas which are almost synonymous with the festival itself.
tell the story of Holi
It is going to be fun and educative at the same time especially for kids. While the most popular legend surrounding Holi is that of Holika, there are other legends of Holi as well. These include the story of Lord Shiva and Kamadeva or the story of the demonic Dhundhi and Lord Krishna. This is the right time to let the kids know the rich culture behind the colorful festival.
