As railway stations are witnessing unprecedented footfall in the wake of Holi, the festival of colours, Railways has planned to run 491 trips of 196 special trains for the convenience of passengers and to ease the festive rush.
The national transporter on Monday said that these special trains will connect major destinations across the country.
“In this ongoing festival season of Holi, for the convenience of rail passengers and to clear extra rush of passengers, Indian Railways is running 491 trips of 196 special trains.
“Special trains to connect major destinations across the country like Delhi-Patna, Delhi-Bhagalpur, Delhi-Muzaffarpur, Delhi-Saharsa, Gorakhpur-Mumbai, Kolkata-Puri, Guwahati-Ranchi, New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra etc. have been planned. , Jaipur-Bandra Terminus, Pune-Danapur etc,” the Railway Ministry said in a statement.
Railways have also implemented crowd control measures by forming queues at terminus stations under the supervision of RPF staff for orderly entry of passengers in unreserved coaches.
Additional RPF personnel have been deployed at major stations to ensure the safety of passengers.
Officials have been deployed on emergency duty at major stations to ensure smooth running of trains. Railways said that staff has been deployed on priority basis in various sections to deal with any disruption in train service.
Measures have been taken for frequent and timely announcement of arrival/departure of trains with platform numbers.
