Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has started manufacturing global engines from its Vitthalpur in Gujarat. The manufacturing plant will produce engines of 250 cc and above which will cater to the domestic and global demand. in a statement, Honda Said said the dedicated engine line will serve markets such as Thailand, the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia and the Gulf countries. A total of 50,000 engine units are scheduled for production in the first year of operation and the company will scale up production based on market demand. Honda has invested Rs 135 crore for this.

The new facility will manufacture world class engines in compliance with the company’s global manufacturing practices. The two-wheeler giant is following the same standardized practices for machining process, engine assembly process and manufacturing technologies as its global counterparts.
Speaking at the line-off ceremony, Atsushi Ogata, President and CEO, HMSI said, “As the demand for mobility continues to grow globally, Honda envisions further expansion of its export footprint across the globe. One of the first engines to be produced would be Honda CB300Rof 286 cc single-cylinder mill.
