HOP OXO is the company’s flagship electric motorcycle

Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), India’s automotive R&D organization, has certified HOP Electric’s soon-to-be-launched high-speed electric motorcycle, the HOP OXO. According to a statement by HOP Electric, the company’s flagship e-bike OXO has successfully completed all the tests conducted by ARAI, including AIS 156 for the battery. The ARAI certification comes on the heels of HOP Electric’s successful mandate of the Government of India’s ambitious Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme under the new Non-Automotive Investor (OEM) category, the company said. Under this mandate, HOP Electric will invest over Rs 2,000 crore in India over the next five years.

The HOP OXO has already been tested for over 75,000 kms and the company says that it is almost ready to launch the flagship electric motorcycle.

HOP Electric Mobility recently closed a $2.6 million strategic round as part of an ongoing $10 million pre-series fundraiser. The company will reach 130 retail touchpoints in 2021 with over 6,200 on-road souters. With the latest funding, the company aims to grow 10x this year. According to the company, the HOP OXO is indigenously designed and developed as per the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of EVs (FAME II) norms.
