A one-year-old leopard who fell into a well at Nidodin near Mangaluru in Karnataka was rescued and later released into the wild, forest department officials said. Officials initially tried and failed to lower the animal down the well inside a cage on Sunday, a release said.
A rescue team led by wildlife expert Dr Yashasvi Narvi along with Dr Meghna, Dr Prithvi and Dr Nafisa decided to stabilize the leopard and bring it up from the well, which was very deep and had a small cave inside where the animal lived. was hidden
Dr. Meghna sat inside the cage with a dart and a gun. With the help of local people and forest department officials, the cage was slowly tied with ropes and lowered inside the well. The leopard was driven away and after sedation, it was dragged inside the cage and lifted up.
The leopard was released back into the wild later in the day, the release said.
