Form of words:
New Delhi: ThePrint has learned that three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state executive meetings – this month in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Delhi – have brought to the fore the “lack of visibility of local leaders” and their “relationship with voters”.
Two states and union territories (UTs) are led by non-BJP parties: Chhattisgarh by the Congress, Maharashtra by the alliance of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, and Delhi by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
According to several BJP leaders on condition of anonymity, party workers from these areas have been asked by central leaders to be more visible on the ground and raise issues of local importance.
BJP members said that leaders in all three state executive committees have been asked to aggressively and actively surround the existing state governments. They were also asked to “learn from the experiences of former leaders, end the fight and focus on the positive”.

Raise ‘flaming issues’ in Chhattisgarh
In Chhattisgarh, at a November 13 meeting, senior BJP leaders asked the state unit to be “present on the ground” and that “merely holding meetings will serve no purpose”.
According to a senior BJP leader, Chhattisgarh in-charge D. Purandeshwari reprimanded the state leaders and advised them to take on the “misdeeds” of the Congress government.
,get out of the house (Get out of your homes) – The same advice was given to BJP workers and leaders in the meeting. BJP workers are not visible on the ground. D. Purandeshwariji said that it would not be possible to win the assembly elections just by holding meetings and staying indoors,” said the senior BJP leader. “We have to be more focused and visible if we want to win elections.”
Another leader said that district heads and others have been asked to conduct more Migrant (travel) and night stay (night tour) and raising local issues. State leaders have also been asked to raise the alleged issue of increasing conversions in Chhattisgarh.
“In the state executive, it was pointed out that such burning issues should be raised as they are important to the public as well. Till now we have been attacking the Congress government over the increased conversions, but it needs to be done more aggressively,” the leader said.
The state unit has also been asked to “launch a signature campaign to highlight the failure of the Congress government, which promised to create 10 lakh jobs, but did not deliver on that promise”, the leaders said. he said.
Focus on the Positive in Delhi
In Delhi, central leaders tell ticket aspirants to stop doing “Ganesh” circumambulation (circling around senior leaders)” and focus on connecting with people and working on the ground, it’s learned.
At the 22 November meeting, the Union members called on the local leaders to unite and end the fighting. BJP sources said they have been asked to prepare and field for the municipal elections to be held next year.
“It was pointed out that instead of focusing on a negative campaign, the leaders of Delhi should focus on their positivity and what they can deliver. Negative campaigns, it was pointed out, often give the opposition an upper hand in changing the narrative,” said a Delhi BJP leader.
According to sources, Delhi BJP in-charge Baijayant Panda stressed the need to project the local unit as a united front.
“Party workers have also been asked to reach out to former party functionaries from block to state level and learn from their experience.
Another senior said, “At the BJP national executive held in early November, PM Modi had also stressed on the need to reach out to senior leaders who are no longer active in politics but from whose experience one can learn a lot. Maybe,” the BJP leader.
The BJP, which is in power in Delhi’s three Municipal Corporations (MCD), is expecting a tough challenge from Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). In the 2017 municipal elections, the BJP won 181 of the 272 municipal seats in the three corporations. AAP won 49 seats and Congress came third by winning 31 seats.
booth level meeting in maharashtra
In the state executive meeting in Maharashtra held on 18 November, it was decided by the party to hold booth-level meetings across the state to “expose the failure of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government”.
A Maharashtra BJP source said the BJP passed a resolution against the political situation in Maharashtra and said it would hold around 20,000 booth-level assemblies to talk about the government’s failures.
“We have decided to go out among the people and hold protests across Maharashtra in the coming few days to highlight and put pressure on the government’s failure. We are also preparing a list of scams that happened under this government and we will highlight these issues,” said the senior BJP leader.
