Vijay Krishna Acharya was busy and thus Divya Prakash Dubey got a chance to write the dialogues for Ponniyin Selvan.
Interestingly, the writer was not told that he had to write for Mani Ratnam’s film.
Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two directed by Mani Ratnam released on 28 April to mixed to favorable reviews. While some liked the film, others criticized it for the slow pace of the story. Despite the reviews, the cast and crew associated with the film have been praised for their work. This includes writer Divya Prakash Dubey, who has written the Hindi dialogues for the Ponniyin Selvan franchise. In an interview given to Aaj Tak, Divya told how after completing her engineering, she got a job in a company. He used to write on weekends and gradually gained a massive fan following because of his books.
Divya met writer Vijay Krishna Acharya at a literature fair. Vijay also took Divya’s phone number and called her one day to propose her to write for the film. Vijay tells Divya that he doesn’t have time to write for Mani Sir’s film. Thus he can pitch for the project. Interestingly, Divya was not told that she had to write for Mani Ratnam’s film. Despite not knowing it, he immediately accepted the offer and the rest, as is well known, is history.
Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two is performing well at the box office and has earned Rs 200 crore worldwide in just 4 days. Trade expert Taran Adarsh tweeted this information.
Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two is a sequel to PS1. The franchise is an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan. Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two has been released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages. Critics have praised aspects such as Aishwarya Rai Performances by Bachchan (Nandini and Mandakini) and Vikram (Aditya Karikalan). According to critics, Aishwarya has been able to express her inner turmoil with ease. Critics were of the opinion that Vikram has supported Aishwarya very well with his acting. Other actors have also played their characters well. Critics wrote that PS2 also excelled on the cinematography (Ravi Varman) and music (AR Rahman) fronts. According to critics, the film failed to explore the characters in full depth. A three-part film series would have worked better.
