On December 12 last year, when Superstar Rajinikanth wanted to tweet about his political entry, he was unsure about how to say it. from the set of Annaatthe, which he was shooting for at the time, sent a voice note to his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth.

He listened to the recording with interest. It was a voice she’d heard since childhood, but that particular recording spawned a business idea: a voice-based social media platform.

Thereafter, he discussed the concept with a friend (Sunny Pokla of Amptech Technologies) to establish the technical background for it. Today, the duo’s brainchild, called Hoote, is available in 15 native Indian languages ​​and 10 international languages. Users can post a 60 second live voice recording or upload the recorded voice to the app.

Rajinikanth posted the first audio message on stage from Delhi, where he recently received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. “I believe voice is the future of communication,” said Soundarya during a recent launch event, adding that with voice notes, one can convey important messages and communicate clearly.

Sunny, who has previously worked on mobile civil defense application Kavalan, says, “Hoot will listen to the voices of everyone from celebrities to common people. This is relevant in today’s time when people want to stay connected all the time, and still want to reduce screen time. “

Soundarya, who entered the film industry as a graphic designer, directed two Tamil films: the 2014 animated film Kochadaiyaan, starring Rajinikanth, and 2017 film Vellallah Pattadhari 2, starring Dhanush and Kajol. With Hoot, she hopes to discover new pastures. The team is also expected to partner with music labels to bring out audio teasers for the films.
