Eligibility Criteria to get Driving License in Maharashtra
Before applying for driving license, you need to know the eligibility criteria to get it in Maharashtra.
- One must have a Learner’s License before applying for a Permanent Driving License.
- One can apply for Permanent DL only after 30 days of issue of Learner’s License.
- Applicant must be 16 years of age or above before applying for a two wheeler driving license.
- To apply for a motor vehicle driving license, the applicant must be 20 years of age or above.

Applicants have to provide certain documents while applying for driving license in Maharashtra. These documents are proof of your identity.
- Learner’s License
- Recent passport size photograph (3 copies)
- Documents like Aadhar Card / Voter ID / Birth Certificate that prove your age and address

- All documents related to the car being used in the driving test.

Application process to follow
If you fulfill all the requirements regarding eligibility criteria and have all the above documents, then you can finally apply for driving license both online and offline.
Maharashtra government started the online process to get driving license which made it very easy to apply. In this case, applicants do not need to physically visit the RTO office to collect and submit the form. All you have to do is visit their official website, fill the form and submit along with the scanned documents.
In case of offline process, people residing near RTO office can visit there to collect form for new driving license. After filling it correctly, submit the form along with photocopies of required documents.
