Chef Guntas shared the recipe on his Instagram and wrote, “At home, we make Konkani style fish curry almost every weekend. This is a nutritious and hearty family meal that is full of flavor and my dad’s. Favorite!” Let’s take a look at the recipe:

About Homemade Konkani Fish Curry Recipe: Homemade Konkani Fish Curry

material:

  • 7-8 Kashmiri red chilies
  • 8-10 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tsp coriander leaves
  • 1/2 finely chopped coconut
  • 1 tomato
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 3 chopped green red chilies
  • handful curry leaves
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 3-4 chopped garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • Salt and red chili powder as per taste
  • 500 grams fish pieces
  • 1/2 lemon
  • Ginger-garlic paste (as required)
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 4-5 kokum
  • Coriander leaves (for garnishing)

method:

  • Soak 7-8 Kashmiri red chilies, 8-10 garlic cloves and 2 teaspoons coriander seeds for 1/2 hour.
  • Sieve and blitz in a mixer with 1/2 finely chopped coconut and 1 tomato.
  • Filter it out, then add more water to the residue and blitz it again and filter it out. This ensures that you get maximum curry juice to work with.
  • In a pan, add 2 tbsp oil, 1 tbsp cumin, 3 chopped green red chillies, a handful of curry leaves and fry.
  • Add 1 finely chopped onion and 3-4 chopped garlic cloves. Fry till it turns brown.
  • Add the spices prepared earlier. Add 1/2 tsp turmeric, salt and red chili powder as per taste. Let it cook on medium-low flame for 10 minutes while stirring continuously.
  • Meanwhile, marinate 500 grams fish cubes in turmeric, salt, ginger-garlic paste and 1/2 lemon for 15-20 minutes.
  • Once the curry is almost cooked, add the fish and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  • Add 1/2 tsp garam masala powder and 4-5 kokum. Let it cool down for 5 minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.
