How to Turn Off Passcode, Face ID on Apple iPhones

Once you buy an iPhone, the first thing you do is protect it using a password. Some use fingerprints or Face ID while others stick to the old way of manually entering passwords or PINs.

Protecting your iPhone with a lock is as important as protecting its body with a hard case and tempered screen guard. This ensures that no one except you has access to your phone and more importantly the data contained in it. Your phone lock also plays an important role when you lose your phone or it is stolen. This prevents your phone from being misused if it falls into the wrong hands.

However, entering your password over and over again or using a fingerprint to unlock it even when your hands are wet and dirty can be a bit annoying. Although turning off passcode is not advised as it leaves your phone vulnerable to tampering, it may still be considered in some cases to remove it.

If you’re sharing your phone with someone or want to leave it unlocked for a while, it’s easier than removing the passcode. To do so, just follow the simple steps given below

Step – 1 Open Settings on your iPhone and scroll down to the option ‘Touch ID & Passcode’. Depending on the iPhone model you are using, the name of the settings may be different, but you basically need to locate the passcode settings.

Step – 2 Now enter your current passcode on the screen.

Step – 3 Next, select the option ‘Turn off passcode’ after which a warning will popup.

Step – 4 Now go ahead and click on ‘Turn off’ below the warning text.

Step – 5 Now in another pop up that appears, enter your Apple ID password and then click on ‘Close’.

Step – 6 Now your iPhone will take you back to the passcode setting where you will see ‘Turn on Passcode’. This indicates that the password has been successfully removed.

Step – 7 Now you are all done. It is to be noted that once these steps are followed, your iPhone will not be protected by any passcode.
