Hyderabad: Amidst the ongoing unrest in Telangana after protests against suspended BJP leader T. Raja Singh for his alleged derogatory remarks against Prophet MuhammadSecurity was tightened near Charminar on Thursday.
This comes in the wake of massive protests here on August 23.
Earlier, a huge crowd of protesters had gathered at Shalibanda in Hyderabad over the alleged remarks of the suspended BJP leader.
Police controlled the situation after lathi charge.
The sequence of events began with the release of a 10-minute video of T Raja Singh making derogatory statements against the Prophet, leading to a massive uproar demanding action against him.
He was taken into custody the same day, however, he was released on Tuesday after the court withdrew his remand application and ordered that he be released immediately.
An FIR was registered against him under sections 153A, 295 and 505 of the Indian Penal Code at Dabirpura police station.
The party said his remarks were against the party’s line and suspended T Raja Singh.
The suspension letter issued to him read, “You have expressed contrary views of the Party’s position on various matters, which is a clear violation of Rule XXV of the Constitution. 10(a) Bharatiya Janata Party,
The suspension letter, written by Om Pathak, Chairman, Disciplinary Committee, read, “I am directed to inform you that pending further investigation, you have been suspended from the party and from your responsibilities/assignments with immediate effect.” Please also give reasons as to why you should not be expelled from the party within 10 days from the date of this notice. Your detailed reply should reach the undersigned by 2nd September 2022.”
Earlier the party had suspended its national spokesperson- Nupur Sharma for making remarks against the Prophet and expelled Delhi leader Naveen Jindal for similar remarks.
