Mahindra Racing is the only Indian team on the Formula E grid since its inception and will have many Indian fans during the home races.

Formula E has seen some of the world’s most popular and historic cities host races on street circuits. This includes New York City, Monaco, Berlin, Paris, Jakarta, Diriyah, Mexico City, London, Beijing, Buenos Aires among others. Over the course of seven seasons, Formula E has completed 84 road races so far. Currently, more than 20 cities are in the race to be part of Formula E Season 9, which will begin in 2023. It will also see the new Gen3 era with new and faster electric race cars.

The announcement comes almost a decade after India took to the Formula 1 calendar for three seasons between 2011-2013. This move will surely excite the Indian motorsport fans. Moreover, the timing could not have been better to promote electrification on a large scale in the country. Meanwhile, Formula E Season 8 is set to begin later this month on January 28 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The 16-race season will take place in several cities around the world before ending in August this year.
