The Indian men’s hockey team returned to the national coaching camp on Monday to begin its preparations for the new season of the FIH Hockey Pro League.

He now wants to focus on making this opportunity in the camp count and has also expressed his enthusiasm to make it to the 33-member core group.
When asked about his chances to make his debut for the Indian team, he said, “I am looking forward to an opportunity to show everyone how I play and I am working hard on my game. . The last one year has been a great learning experience for me and I am definitely in a race to take my performance to the next level. Definitely my biggest dream is to make my debut for India and there is a lot of healthy competition within the core group to make it.
“You know when you are close to your dream, there is a whole storm of restlessness, excitement, emotion. I thought this was my last chance to get selected for 33 and I really tried to make sure I worked hard not to let this opportunity slip my hands,” Raheel said.
After a stellar performance in the Hockey India Senior National Championship, the Bengaluru player was first selected in the Senior National Camp in January 2022, where he was adjudged the Player of the Tournament and Highest Goal Scorer.
Raheel also spoke about the positive atmosphere in the group ahead of the biggest event of the hockey calendar, FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar- Rourkela.
“Everyone in the group is looking forward to the next three months. It is going to be a great build-up to the biggest event of the hockey calendar and the mood within the group is very upbeat as each and every player looks to give their best. I think each one of us inspires each other to do our best.”
Raheel believes that doing well in FIH Hockey Pro League matches at home will give the team and players the right momentum and confidence in the lead up to the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup Bhubaneswar-Rourkela.
“Definitely doing well in the upcoming FIH Hockey Pro League matches will be an immediate focus as we look to build our confidence in the World Cup so that we can do our best and have a show for the audience in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela. , There is no better feeling than winning the World Cup and the entire team working towards that goal,” he signed off.
