VK Sasikala pays floral tributes to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on her death anniversary at Jaya Memorial in Chennai today.
Speaking to reporters, Sasikala said, “38 years ago we united the AIADMK. The AIADMK cadres are wishing for a united AIADMK. Certainly it will happen very soon.”
Sasikala said, “Only the AIADMK will lead the alliance in the coming general elections. You will soon see who will lead the AIADMK. The workers have full faith in me that I will unite the AIADMK.”
Earlier in the day, former Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu O Panneerselvam hinted at a reunion with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), when he said the party can grow only when “we meet again”.
After paying floral tributes to former chief minister J Jayalalithaa at Jaya Memorial in Chennai, ousted AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam said, “Only if we can meet again we can grow the party together.”
Jayalalithaa, the six-time Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, died on 5 December 2016 after undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai.
On October 19, Sasikala had said that she was ready to face all investigations against Jayalalithaa in connection with her death.
Reacting to the Arumugaswamy Committee’s allegations after the panel called for a probe against three others, including Sasikala, the expelled AIADMK leader said “I deny all the allegations leveled against me in the report”.
The Arumugaswamy Commission, set up to probe the death of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK leader J Jayalalithaa, has demanded an inquiry against three others, including Sasikala.
Sasikala said in a statement, “I am not taking this allegation as a big deal. It is not a new thing for me. There are many ways to make me politically weak. But it hurts me because they Made our Amma (Jayalalithaa).” The death was a controversial one. Jayalalithaa and I were not brothers and sisters but sisters. It was an example of good friendship. That’s how we live our lives.”
“Now they have politicized the Arumugaswamy Commission report. No matter how many times they examine me, the truth will not change. There is no doubt about our Amma’s (Jayalalithaa) death. I never interfered in Jayalalithaa’s medical treatment. I have never interfered.” I haven’t studied medicine. Apollo Hospitals is not a hospital where they need my opinion to treat Jayalalithaa. I deny all the allegations leveled against me from the report. In this regard, I am ready to face all inquiries on this.”
