IAF flies aircraft at night without lights in Sudan, rescues 121 Indians in astonishing operation

Sayyidna is an army airport 22 kilometers (14 mi) north of Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. According to the report, there was no aid to navigation on this runway. There was no light. There was no authority for fuel either. During the rescue operation, the pilots of the aircraft used night vision goggles.

According to reports, in a daredevil operation on the night of 27/28 April 2023, C-130J aircraft of the Indian Air Force rescued 121 people from a small airstrip in Wadi Sayyedna. These people had no means of reaching Sudan Port. The convoy was led by the Indian Defense Attaché, who was in constant touch with Indian communications officials from the time it arrived at the airstrip at Wadi Sayyidna.

The pilots of the radar used night vision goggles (NVG) to perform night landings. During approach to the airstrip, the crew used their electro-optical/infra-red sensors to ensure that there was no obstruction on the short runway.

8 Garuda commandos for the security of Indians
After ensuring that the runway was clear, the daredevil pilots of the aircraft landed the aircraft. During this, 8 Garud commandos of the Special Force Unit of the Air Force secured the Indians. It was the commandos who got the luggage boarded safely in the aircraft. By the hour of the roof between Wadi Sayyedna and Jeddah, this operation is equivalent to the operation that was done in Kabul.

1360 Indians return so far
News agency PTI informed from the Ministry of External Affairs that a total of 754 of our citizens reached India on Friday. Of these, 362 have reached Bangalore. The Ministry of External Affairs tweeted that 362 Indians have reached Bangalore under Operation Kaveri. Brought to India from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Many transit camps have been set up from there. 360 Indians were brought home on Wednesday and 246 on Thursday. About 3500 Indians were present in Sudan. Of these, 1360 have been brought back.

512 targets so far in Sudan conflict
Fighting began on 15 April between the army and the Paramilitary Force (RSF) for the coup in Sudan. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 512 people and soldiers have been killed so far in the fighting. 4,200 people have been injured.

Ceasefire on 30th April at 12:00 pm
Meanwhile, the 72-hour ceasefire in Sudan is till 12 midnight on 30 April. During this time it is time for other countries to evacuate their citizens. However, even after the ceasefire, clashes are taking place in other parts of the country, including the capital Khartoum.
