IBM said it has set up a cyber security center in Bengaluru to help businesses in the Asia Pacific region to manage and combat the growing threat of cyberattacks.
The hub will house a new IBM Security Command Center, the first of its kind in the region, geared to everyone from the C-suite through to technical staff, for training in cybersecurity response techniques through to highly realistic, simulated cyberattacks. is designed to do, the company said in a virtual media conference on Wednesday
The Hub, located at IBM’s Embassy Golf Links facility in Bengaluru, will also feature a new Security Operations Center (SOC) to provide 24X7 security response services to customers around the world. The Cyber Security Hub has a capacity to accommodate 600 security experts.
According to the IBM Security X-Force Threat Intelligence Index, Asia is now the most targeted region for cyber attacks, representing 26% of all global attacks analyzed in 2021.
The data reveals a significant regional shift compared to the last decade of the report, where North America and Europe have historically been ranked as the most targeted. This trend indicates a growing need for security investments in Asian organizations, particularly financial services and manufacturing, which according to the index were the most targeted industries in the region.
IBM India Managing Director Sandeep Patel said, “Cyber security is one of the biggest challenges affecting the success of the rapidly growing digital economy and countries around the world. We need cutting edge technology and the entire ecosystem to come together to tackle this menace. The launch of the IBM Cybersecurity Hub is, in fact, a response to this challenge.
He added that the new Cyber Security Center will help organizations meet the most pressing need of the hour to accelerate their security strategies and align business priorities with a security-first approach.
