The International Cricket Council will launch its first ‘Invitation to Tender’ (ITT) for the media rights of 711 sports across its global events over the next eight-year cycle starting from 20 June 2024. official release on June 17th.
The ICC will follow the traditional sealed bidding process with separate bids for both men’s and women’s matches, unlike the BCCI’s e-auction process for its IPL media rights. The package includes several Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cups.
This will be the first time the ICC will sell men’s and women’s rights separately and potential partners can bid for 16 men’s events – over 8 years old, and six women’s events – over 4 years, totaling 362* and 103 * Match. In addition to these 465 sports, there are additional sports under-19 men’s and women’s sports.

Interested bidders must submit bids for the first four years of the men’s events. However, they also have the option of bidding for an eight-year partnership.
“International cricket continues to attract huge audiences and it is garnering significant interest from broadcasters for ICC events. We have over a billion fans who follow the game globally, and they share the best players in the world with cricket. Would like to see them compete for the most coveted trophies,” said ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardyce.
“There has been a significant increase in interest in women’s cricket over the past five years and we have made a long-term strategic commitment to accelerate that growth and open up the rights to our women’s events will play a big part in this. We are looking for a A broadcast partner that is excited about their role in advancing the women’s game and ensuring that more fans can enjoy it than ever before.”

This time around, the ICC has kept the bidding process more linear than that of the BCCI, with three specific packages for both men and women.
Package A is TV rights, ‘B’ is digital rights and ‘C’ is a combination of TV and digital rights in both the categories. The category of men has two specific periods – 4 years and eight years.
ITT is only for the Indian market, there are six packages available on TV only, digital only or a combination of both.
