ICC T20I Rankings: Smriti Mandhana retains top 5, Renuka Singh at 13th spot

The updated Women’s T20 rankings were announced on Tuesday and the rankings released by the ICC are dominated by Australian players. Talking about India, some players have climbed in the rankings and some have suffered losses.

Kangaroos occupy three of the top five places. Australian opener Beth Mooney has retained the top spot with 743 points and is followed by her captain Meg Lanning (723 points) in the new T20 rankings.

Mooney has now become the number one batsman with 743 points. He scored 179 runs in five innings at the Commonwealth Games, including a half-century in the final against India. At the same time, Tahlia McGrath has retained her fifth position.

From India’s point of view, fast bowler Renuka Singh has jumped five places to 13th among bowlers while spinner Deepti Sharma remained in its seventh place.

Renuka, who bowled an economical spell for just 23 runs in four overs in India’s nine-wicket loss to England in the first T20I at Chester-le-Street last week, has 612 rating points.

reminiscence (710 points) was the highest-ranked Indian among batsmen at number four, while Shafali Verma (686) and Jemima Rodrigues (624) were stable at 6th and 10th place respectively.

England all-rounder Sarah Glenn clashed with compatriot Sophie Ecclestone after a brilliant performance in the first match of the three-match T20I series against India.

Glenn is in career-best second place and just 13 ratings points behind left-arm spinner Ecclestone.

England batsmen Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsi have also made notable gains after the first match of their series.
