IHGF-Delhi fair closes with business inquiries worth Rs 1,850 cr. Noida News – Times of India

Greater Noida: The 52nd edition of the Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair (IHGF-Delhi), which was held in its physical form after a gap of 18 months. India Exhibition & Mart Greater Noida Closed on Sunday with business inquiries worth Rs 1,850 crore.
The largest exporter of Indian handicrafts was the United States which remained the traditional buyer at a high of 38%.
RK Verma, Executive Director, Export Promotion Council of Handicrafts (EPCH), which organizes the B2B fair, said, “Around 1,250 foreign buyers from 90 countries and over 1,100 procurement consultants visited the fair and generated a business of around Rs 1,850 crore.”
According to Verma, while buyers’ mood was upbeat, bulk buyers remained from the United States, which accounted for 38% of the total exports.
Dr Rakesh Kumar, Director General-EPCH and President of India Exposition Mart Limited (IEML), said the success of this fair has sent a big message to the world that “India has opened up with a bang,” he said.
Kumar informed that despite the travel restrictions in many parts of the world, this edition of the IHGF Delhi Fair met the expectations of the buyers. Buyers from USA, UK, UAE, France, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Sweden, Russia, Japan, Australia, China, Singapore, South Africa, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Canada, Brazil and many more Years more came to the fair. “Over the past several years, a large number of buyers and sellers have been dependent on the IHGF Delhi Fair to procure and supply products that go well with consumers across the globe and can be easily sold.
The handicraft exports for 2019-20 stood at around Rs 25,670 crore while the handicraft exports during the six months of the current financial year from April to September 2021-22 stood at Rs. 15,995.73 crores. America’s stake in this is Rs 9,855 crore. Overall, the handicrafts segment is registering a growth of over 60.34% as compared to the corresponding period last year.
The B2B fair which could not be held in its physical form last year was attended by participants from over 90 countries this year.
This is due to maintaining the covid protocols related to trade demonstrations issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Government of India along with the covid pandemic.
Dignitaries visiting during the four-day event included Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Rajiv Chandrashekhar, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology.
