New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) on Thursday announced additional seats for international students on the campus to promote diversity, an issue that has been under discussion in the Indian education sector for years.
IIM-K’s move comes after two of its management programs ranked first in the 101+ rank group in the sub-regional QS World University Rankings 2020.
Shubhasis Dey, Dean (Programs and International Relations) at B-School said, “IIMK’s focus on welcoming international candidates to our campus will certainly bring an added vibrancy and dynamism to our classrooms and contribute to the prosperity of our academic programs “
Debashish Chatterjee, director of IIM Kozhikode, claimed that diversity has always been “the pivot around which IIMK has successfully reshaped management education,” adding that his B-school is inspired by the mission of ‘globalizing Indian thought’ and is closely linked with the thrust of India. Study in India’ programme.
Internationalization has been a major concern for the Indian higher education sector and the paucity of foreign students and faculty has dragged down their global rankings from time to time.
The supernumerary will be built into three major programmes, which include the two-year flagship MBA, the Postgraduate Program in Finance (PGP-F) and the PGP in Liberal Studies and Management (PGP LSM).
According to IIM-K, for them international candidates mean Indian citizens residing outside the country and foreign nationals holding valid passports. Admission to supernumerary seats will be for candidates having Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or equivalent (with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA) and through valid CAT/ GRE/ GMAT score with TOEFL.
The total fee for the two-year program has been set at $30,000 and candidates who enroll will be allowed access to all resources on campus, including participation in an international exchange program.
