IIM Ranchi student dies A student of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ranchi was found hanging from the ceiling fan on Tuesday. The student has been identified as Shivam Pandey, a resident of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Interestingly, both the hands were tied with a rope and the main door was locked from inside. According to the police it could be a case of “murder” rather than suicide.

However, it also added that the body has been sent for post-mortem and the exact cause of death would be known after the complete medical report. Police said that no suicide note was also found near the body. Also said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the matter. At present, the police have recovered a mobile phone and notebook from the room of the deceased.

SP Ranchi-Rural said, “Student of IIM Ranchi was found dead in the hostel room with his hands tied. The body was sent for postmortem. SIT was constituted to investigate the matter. FSL team seized a mobile phone from there.” The room was found locked from inside.” Kaushal Kishore.

On the other hand, some students said that Pandey was looking sad for the last two days. DSP Praveen Singh said, “The matter came to light after Pandey was not seen for more than 12 hours and later he informed the security guard of the hostel.” The DSP said, “When the door was broken open, it was found that Shivam was hanging from the ceiling with his hands tied.”
