Tata Power on Saturday said it has entered into an agreement with IIT Delhi to work together on clean energy and other projects that can be converted from research and development stage to pilot stage. Tata Power and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed to cooperate in areas such as smart grid technology, clean energy solutions, a company statement said.
Considering the large number of experts at IIT Delhi and Tata Power with their excellence in various fields, there is immense potential for collaboration between domain experts from academia, research and business with high transformative impact. Both the institutes have agreed to work together to identify projects that can be converted from R&D phase to pilot projects and also to develop EV infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Hydrogen Technologies, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Monitoring Scaling can be done in areas like end sensing solutions, microgrids. and others.
Speaking about the collaboration, V Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi, said in the statement, “IIT Delhi, a premier research institute in the country, is pleased to sign this MoU with Tata Power. I look forward to this collaboration. This will lead to the development of new technologies for the energy sector, which will prove to be helpful in the field of power generation and distribution.
Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power said, “At Tata Power, our focus has always been on bringing unprecedented and sustainable technologies to the power sector. We are happy to partner with the prestigious institute, IIT Delhi. We are confident that this collaboration will create a test bed for new age implementable technologies in the energy sector to strengthen the clean energy ecosystem in the country.”
Over the years, Tata Power has fostered a culture of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship within the organization to design, develop and deliver unique energy products, services and solutions to its employees.
Tata Power and IIT-D have also agreed to explore the possibility of developing the Tata Power Virtual Center of Excellence, which complement and complement the various technologies, laboratories and infrastructure already existing in each other’s facilities.
Under this MoU, both sides seek to explore synergies for incubation and development of startups through collaboration with the Clean Energy International Incubation Center (CEIIC) and the startup infrastructure of IIT Delhi. CEIIC is supported by Social Alpha, Tata Trusts and the Government of India through the Department of Biotechnology, BIRAC, Tata Power and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited.
To date, Tata Power through its Collaboration, Innovation and R&D division has collaborated with over 100 national and international technology and institute partners to develop low cost, scalable solutions in the clean energy sector.
