IIT Dhanbad to offer free education to JEE Advanced top rank holders

Indian Institute technology Dhanbad has decided to provide free education to five students out of 600 in the JEE Advanced merit list. Education fee, accommodation as well as food facility of these five students will also be waived off. This initiative is going to be implemented from the academic session 2022-23. The board of IIT Dhanbad has given its consent to this.

The total enrollment capacity of the institute is 1125 seats. Out of these, 118 seats are reserved for girls under super numeric quota.

From the upcoming session 2023-24, IIT Dhanbad will start semiconductor course in M.Tech. The institute has decided to develop the curriculum after seeing a lot of potential in it. Apart from this, it has also been decided to open two new centers related to carbon capture, coal bed methane and hydrogen storage.

Meanwhile, MA in Digital Humanity and Social Science course will also be started in the institute this year. The board has given its approval for this course. The syllabus preparation, number of seats and other key points will be decided now.

IIT ISM Dhanbad was formed under the institute technology Act, 1961. The institute has been ranked 14th in the NIRF Engineering Ranking 2022.

In related news, 23 IITs will organize a research and development fair called IIInventiv at the IIT Delhi campus between October 14-15. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will address the inaugural session. The R&D fair will cover projects in various fields including drone technology, affordable healthcare, rural agriculture, smart city architecture and climate change.

The event will be managed by a committee headed by BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG), IIT Hyderabad/Roorkee and Pawan Goenka, Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG), IIT Madras.
