Professor Kamal Kishore Pant, former Dean of Faculty and Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Delhi has been appointed as the Director. Indian Institute technology (IIT) Roorkee. Prof KK Pant obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering degree from IIT Kanpur in 1997. He is a Fellow of the Scientific Academies of INAE and NASI. He is also a leading expert in cutting edge and futuristic technologies and has now succeeded the outgoing Director of IIT Roorkee, Professor AK Chaturvedi.
Sharing his views, Professor KK Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee said, “IIT Roorkee celebrated its first festival in October 1996 and has now completed more than 175 years of its existence. And like all my contemporaries, aligning with the vision of the Institute, we strive to scale greater heights to create a sustainable and equitable society through the teaching of state-of-the-art educational content using cutting edge methodologies and innovative research in science and technology. “The institute seeks to oversee the functioning and well being of all the faculty, staff and students to facilitate overall professional development. According to the institute, Prof Pant is working on several national and international import technologies. Among them are coal to methanol conversion, e-waste and plastics management, hydrogen production, CO2 capture and conversion, biomass valorization, etc., using catalysis and reaction engineering. With leading companies and government agencies, he has successfully completed over 50 high-impact projects. He is also a Fellow of several national and international academies, including the National Academy of Sciences India (NASI) and Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE).
