IITs offer fee-waiver, financial assistance for engineering aspirants

The counseling process for admission in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is underway. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSA) has already released three merit lists and will declare a total of six merit lists for the counseling session this year. Many IITs are offering scholarships and fee waivers to engineering aspirants to help them continue their education based on merit and parental income.

IIT Bombay

Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech or dual degree programs of IIT Bombay, having meritorious rank in JEE Advanced and parental income not exceeding Rs 5 lakh will be eligible to apply for Merit cum Means Scholarship at the institute. For SC and ST parents income less than Rs 4.5 lakh will be exempted from payment of tuition fees and hostel seat rent along with free messing, pocket allowance of Rs 250 per month as per the official website.

IIT Gandhinagar

Students who have got 1000 or more ranks in JEE Advanced 2021 as per Common Rank List (CRL) will be able to avail scholarships offered by the institute. The scholarship will be equal to the tuition fee at IIT Gandhinagar for all the four years of B.Tech undergraduate program at the institute.

IIT Delhi

IIT Delhi Endowment Fund will provide 30 scholarships of Rs 1,00,000 per annum. The scholarship scheme launched this year will cover 15 male and 15 female students. It will be awarded purely on the basis of merit and rank of students in JEE Advanced 2021.

IIT Kanpur

The ‘Bright Minds Scholarship’ program by IIT Kanpur will be offered by the institute to the top 100 ranked students of JEE Advanced 2021 taking admission in BTech or BS programme. The scholarship of Rs 3 lakh will cover the entire tuition fees along with hostel, books and miscellaneous expenses of the students.

IIT Bhilai

The institute offers merit-cum-means scholarship for undergraduate students belonging to unreserved and OBC categories. A maximum of 25 percent of students are proposed to be awarded the award. For EWS category students whose family income is between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh per annum, who avail two-thirds of tuition fee waiver, they can avail one-third reimbursement of tuition fee per semester as well as Rs. IIT Madras

Meritorious candidates who are admitted to IIT Madras in their B.Tech or dual degree programs and whose parental income is less than Rs 1 lakh will be given full tuition fee waiver by the institute. Whereas candidates whose parental income is less than Rs 4.5 lakh will be given MCM (Merit cum Means) scholarship which will include Rs 1000 per month. Those whose parents’ income is between Rs 4.5 to 1 lakh will be exempted from paying two-thirds of their tuition fees from the institute. The remaining one-third will be reimbursed by the Alumni Office through various donors.
