MANGALURU: The BJP government led by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has created anarchy in the state, and it has no moral right to continue in power. The Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council said that the Governor should dissolve the government, and recommend President’s rule in accordance with Article 356 of the Constitution, if peace is to be maintained in the state. Hariprasad demanded that the government arrest all the accused in the murder within 15 days.
He also hit out at the chief minister for being selective in meeting the kin of the murder victims during his visit to the district on Thursday.
“The Chief Minister, who took oath as per the Constitution, to present a fair administration, has shown his bias by not visiting the homes of all the victims. This indicates that Bommai is the Chief Minister only for BJP workers and not for Karnataka . ,” They said.
He said that development is not on the agenda of the BJP government. “BJP is doing politics on the basis of dead bodies. Earlier, when 24 murders took place under Congress rule, BJP blamed our government. Now the BJP government is not able to protect its own party workers. Party workers protested at the residence of the Home Minister. After Praveen’s murder, the ministers and the local BJP MP also had to face the ire of the party workers.
Referring to the murder of Paresh Mesta of Honnavar taluk in Uttara Kannada in 2017, Hariprasad said Siddaramaiah was made to hand over the case to the CBI under pressure from the BJP.
“It’s been five years, and no progress has been made in the CBI investigation, and no arrests have been made yet,” he said.
