Aviation regulator DGCA on Monday concluded that there was “improper handling” of passengers by IndiGo employees when a disabled child was denied boarding at Ranchi airport on May 7. – who were with him – also decided not to enter the plane.
“The committee has submitted its report,” the DGCA said in a statement on Monday.
The proceedings of the committee took place partly in the open and partly in a closed room as requested by the affected family.
“The findings of the committee prima facie indicate improper handling of passengers by IndiGo employees, resulting in certain non-compliance with the applicable rules,” it noted.
In view of this, it has been decided to issue show cause notice to the airline through its authorized representative to explain why suitable enforcement action should not be taken against them for non-compliance.
However, on 9 May, the airline clarified that the boy was denied boarding because he “looked in panic”. However, the airline has been provided an opportunity to make a personal hearing as well as a written submission in the next ten days from today i.e. up to May 26, 2022.
