Karnal: The cases of stubble burning are increasing continuously, the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at seven Haryana The city remained in the poor category on Monday as well.
The Haryana Space Applications Center (HARSAC) on Monday caught 86 new cases, the highest single-day jump so far.
With this, the total number of stubble burning cases (spots of active fire) in Haryana rose to 330 in a month (since September 15).
However, the incidents of fire in the state this year are still less as compared to the cases reported in the corresponding period last year.
The data shows that most of the stubble fire ban is violated by the farmers of Kaithal as 80 active fire spots have been reported from here. It is followed by Kurukshetra (75), Karnal (58), Jind (30), Fatehabad (27), Ambala (23), Yamunanagar (21).
However, not a single incident has happened in 10 other districts so far.
According to the Central Pollution Control Bureau (CPCB), the AQI level in 7 cities- Manesar 291, Faridabad 286, Bahadurgarh 244, Gurugram 232, Jind 228, Fatehabad 210, Kurukshetra 204, was in the ‘poor’ category.
The AQI was a 24-hour average, calculated from 4 pm on 16 October to 4 pm on 17 October.
AQI between 0-50 is good, 51-100 satisfactory and 101-200 moderate. However, an AQI between 201-300 is classified as poor, 301-400 as very poor and beyond as ‘severe’.
