Haveri: A monkey pulled its dead infant out of a pit on Sunday and refused to separate the drowning child from the body while jumping from tree to tree.
The video of mother langur has won the hearts of some people on social media, due to which some people have got tears in their eyes. According to eyewitnesses, a newborn langur died due to drowning in Basaveshwara Nagar. Haveri City on Sunday.
Some residents dug a pit and buried the little langur. But in half an hour, a big langur, possibly his mother, came and dug the pit, pulled out the lifeless baby and climbed a tree.
“The monkey didn’t want to leave the baby. She dug the grave and cuddled up to her baby. It was heart-wrenching,” said resident and eyewitness Pranati Hoogri said.
“He followed us when we buried the baby. After reaching our house, he took out the dead body. When I saw his grief, tears welled up in my eyes.” Pranati said.
