In the name of RC 15, the model cheated Rs 10 lakh from the con producers who promised a break in Bollywood with a ‘big star’

A 21-year-old model was duped of over Rs 10 lakh by two men claiming to be producers on the pretext of casting a “big star” in two films, a Mumbai Police official said on Saturday. On the complaint of the woman, an FIR has been registered against two accused Piyush Jain and Manthan Ruparele at Dahisar police station.

The complainant does the modeling assignment. The official said that she was looking for roles in Bollywood films.

Jain and Ruparele identified themselves as the owners of a film production company and told the complainant that they were making two films, titled “RC-15” and “Jailor”. He told her that she would be cast as the daughter of a mega star from South India.

The two called the woman several times in July and offered her a ‘role’ in films. They persuaded her to transfer Rs 10,31,000 to bank accounts under the guise of fees for preparation of film documents and other charges. They sent him fake documents related to the films.”

When both the accused stopped picking up the woman’s phone, on Friday, she contacted the police and lodged an FIR.

A case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code relating to cheating and forgery, he said, adding that no arrests have been made so far.
