In UK Neighborhood, Dead Python’s Body Recovered from Trash Pile

A team of street cleaners in East Lincolnshire, UK, were in shock when they found the body of a 10-foot-long (3 m) python dumped in a pile of black garbage. It is being speculated that the snake was someone’s pet, who instead of burying the dead body like common people threw it in the dustbin. The story was originally published on the BBC website.

The reptile, believed to be an albino Burmese python, was discovered by the team when they were making their rounds in Grimsby on Monday.

Council manager John Munson said the discovery sent the team into “total shock” and that none of his team members were able to “dare to open” the dead reptile.

According to him, the animal, which “looks big and weighs quite a bit”, was probably someone’s pet. However, they were unsure as to why it was thrown like this.

Mr Munson said: “Our work is full of surprises, but it was a total blow to our team.”

“You don’t come to work on Monday morning expecting a giant snake to be thrown behind a hedge,” he said, referring to the kind of crisis the workers were going through.

Officials have said they will conduct a thorough investigation into how the snake’s carcass was dumped on Thorold Street.

Councilor Ron Shepherd said: “Someone must know where it came from. We all have a legal obligation or duty of care to ensure that our waste is disposed of properly.”

Incidentally, the Burmese python is one of the largest snakes in the world and can grow up to 25 feet (7.6 m). This is a rare species of snake.
