Team India The batsmen failed again as the New Zealand bowlers managed to trigger a mini-collapse to put their team on top of the game at the start of Day 4’s game. Unlike the Indian fast bowlers, the visiting fast bowlers asked the batsmen some very tough questions which forced them to commit some mistakes. Centurion from the first innings, Shreyas Iyer once again leads the fight for India as he was unbeaten on 20 at lunch with Ravichandran Ashwin on 18.
Resuming their innings at 14/1, India lost the big wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara early as Kyle Jamieson continued to trouble the Indian batsmen with his disciplined bowling. Pujara, who was looking to score at a healthy rate, was dismissed for 22. The talismanic batsman also registered an unwanted record with another batting failure. He equaled Ajit Wadekar’s highest number of consecutive innings without 100 – 39 – at the No. 3 position for India.

Iyer and Ashwin worked hard to rebuild India’s innings after the mini collapse. The duo shared a 33-run partnership for the sixth wicket to take a lead of 133.
