India beat New Zealand by 168 runs on Wednesday to win the T20I series 2-1 against the Kiwis. Young Indian batsman Shubman Gill single-handedly destroyed the New Zealand bowling attack and remained unbeaten on 126. This was the highest score by any Indian player in T20Is, previously held by Virat Kohli when he scored 122 (not out) against Afghanistan. ,
Gill’s blistering innings came in just 63 balls and included 12 fours and seven sixes. He played at a strike rate of 200. Not only this, at the age of 23 years and 146 days, Gill became the youngest player to score a century in every format of cricket.
in Indian team Also, he is the fifth batsman after Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli to score a century in all formats.
Rahul Tripathi also played a crucial knock and kept the scoreboard going and gave Gill time to settle down. Tripathi played a brilliant knock of 44 which provided the much-needed stability to the side after the early loss of Ishan Kishan.
Suryakumar Yadav And skipper Hardik Pandya also contributed, but Gill was the center of attention.
Chasing a big target, the Kiwis naturally came in with an attacking mindset, but the bowling attack led by skipper Hardik Pandya didn’t let them move much and after losing early wickets, New Zealand were in complete disarray.
For the bowling side, the day belonged to the fast bowlers. Hardik Pandya took four important wickets, while Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik and Shivam Mavi took two wickets each.
A series win by a relatively young team will definitely boost the confidence of the Indian team. Fans are hoping that the good performance continues in the One Day International (ODI) format of the game as 2023 is the year of the ODI Cricket World Cup.
