India were all set to win the first of the three-match T20I series when suddenly the wickets started falling in heaps. From 94/2 they went to 115/4. A well-set Ishan Kishan should have taken India to the winning goal, but he didn’t play a single shot. From this point, India started losing wickets in time which included former captain Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Even skipper Rohit Sharma was seen having an animated chat with the youngster. When asked about this, he said the same in his post-match presentation.

“I have been talking to him (Ishaan) for a long time when he was playing with Mumbai Indians in the middle order which was not his natural position. We saw in Chennai that when the pitch was slow he was not able to move, we just want to make sure that we give him the confidence he needs to do and look to find that odd boundary in the middle. It’s just about rotating the strike in the middle and with Ishaan it’s about getting some game time and dressing up in blue and playing for India, there’s a lot of pressure. It’s our job to make sure he’s quite comfortable whenever he comes in.
