IND vs WI, 3rd ODI: Almost dropped – Kyle Meyers pulls off a juggernaut to remove Ruturaj Gaikwad – WATCH

After a hiatus of 7 months, Ruturaj Gaikwad got a chance to don the blue Indian jersey, his first international game on home soil. In the third and final T20I against West Indies, he found a spot in the playing XI and went on to open with Ishan Kishan. But once again, the dynamic Maharashtra batsman failed to make an impact as he was dismissed early.

Despite a good start to his innings, he fell victim to an outswing while attempting to play a big shot. In the third over of the Indian innings, Jason Holder bowled a length delivery while Gaikwad swung it to play it down the leg side. The ball took the lead and went straight to Kyle Meyers at third man. ,IND vs WI, 3rd ODI Live Coverage,

Though it sounded like a sitter, Meyers picked it up after two attempts as he caught the ball neatly before he could catch it. West Indies got an early breakthrough as Gaikwad went back after scoring just 4 runs in 8 balls.

Earlier, West Indies won the toss and invited the hosts to bat. Team India has made four changes in the playing XI. Avesh Khan made his international, while Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer came in in place of Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant, who were released from the bubble on Saturday. Wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been rested and has been replaced by Shardul Thakur.

“We have some people missing. We have four variations: Virat, Bhuvi. Pant and Chahal missed. Avesh Khan debuted. Ruturaj and Ishaan will open the batting. We have a lot of cricket ahead of us and the challenge for the World Cup will be to ensure that we stay fresh both mentally and physically. We have our eye on that but at the moment everything is looking fine and we are taking it just one game at a time,” Rohit said after losing the toss.
