IND vs WI, 3rd ODI: India complete whitewash 3-0 after rain, Shubman Gill scores first century

West Indies lost a few wickets on the board without scoring any runs until Brandon Kings and Shai Hope followed closely. They added 47 runs for the third wicket before Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed the latter for 22 for 10th above.

The responsibility of the chase fell on the shoulders of Raja, who was joined in the middle by his captain, Nicholas Pooran. The pair shifted gears and started dealing in boundaries. But this partnership was broken by Axar Patel by adding 27 runs for the fourth wicket. The left-arm off-spinner bowled a straighter delivery which went under the King’s bat and damaged the woodwork.

The pair added 113 for the opening stand, their second hundred-plus partnership in the series, with Dhawan scoring his second half-century (58 off 74 balls), with 97 in the opening game.

Dhawan’s innings had seven fours, while Gill had hit seven fours and two sixes till the 36th over. The former was dismissed when he tried to hit against a googly turn from Hayden Walsh and Nicholas Pooran took a simple catch at mid-wicket.

Before the second rain stopped, India added 110 runs in the next 12 overs courtesy of Gill and Shreyas Iyer (44 off 34 balls). Both scored 86 runs in just 9.3 overs to provide the required pace.
