As soon as the central government announced exemption on export of wheat, a large number of trucks loaded with wheat were seen stranded at Kandla port in Gujarat. The Government of India had earlier restricted the export of wheat to manage the overall food security in India. The purpose of the order is to provide a clear direction to the wheat market to prevent hoarding of wheat supplies.
