India on Tuesday reiterated its support for strengthening the multilateral trading system. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iwela on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s 2022 Annual Meeting in Davos.
Piyush Goyal said, “India remains committed to WTO’s efforts to strengthen the multilateral trading system to ensure free and fair trade among member countries.” PTI.
Piyush Goyal also met Swiss State Secretary Marie-Gabrielle Einchen-Fleiss and exchanged views on enhancing India-Switzerland trade ties.
“India is an attractive market to acquire Swiss cutting edge technology and expertise and serve the world,” the minister later tweeted.
Piyush Goyal also met Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and discussed ways to further strengthen and renew India-Dutch ties by expanding trade and investment opportunities while exploring the possibilities of joint cooperation between the two countries.
He also called on Thani bin Ahmed Al Zayoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the Indian Energy Alliance; Denmark’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Financial Affairs, Simon Kollerup; and private industry of Bangladesh and investment advisor to PM Salman F. Rahman.
