The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted normal monsoon rains this year. IMD Mumbai chief Jayant Sarkar said on Wednesday, “99% rain is expected.”
Also, the onset of monsoon over Kerala is likely on May 27. Light to moderate rain is likely over Konkan and Goa region in the next five days, while other parts of the state will also see light rain.
The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the Arabian Sea for three days from Friday. There is no such warning for fishermen off the south Gujarat coast during this period, the IMD said in a release.
“Gust gusting to 60 kmph gusting to 40 to 50 kmph very likely till May 27-29, 2022. Fishermen should not venture into and out along North Gujarat coast till May 27-29, 2022. is advised. May 29,” it said.
Advisory has been issued for fishermen working on Arabian Sea coast covering Kutch, Jamnagar, Porbandar and Devbhoomi Dwarka districts.
The IMD said that Rajkot taluka of Rajkot district of Saurashtra region received 6 mm of unseasonal rain on Tuesday.
However, there is no possibility of any major change in the maximum temperature of the region in the next four-five days.
The IMD has forecast light rain and thundershowers at isolated places in some parts of the districts of South Gujarat.
