New Delhi: Continuing the policy of strengthening strategic ties with the Gulf countries, India on Monday started bilateral aerial warfare exercises with India. Oman in Jodhpur.

“This is the sixth edition of the exercise. It will provide an opportunity to enhance operational capability and interoperability between the two air forces,” said an official.

The aerial combat exercise comes soon after the two countries decided to further enhance naval cooperation during the visit of Commander Rear Admiral Saif bin Nasser bin Mohsin Al Rahabi. Navy Of Oman, to India from 13 to 17 February.

It decided to identify new avenues for enhancing defense industry cooperation and examine areas of mutual interest for joint ventures. The conduct of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercises, involving the three services, and expanding the scope and complexities of the existing joint exercises were also discussed. “The two countries also agreed to work together to tackle the issue of drug trafficking prevalent in the North Arabian Sea,” another official said.
