India records 8,309 COVID cases, over 9900 cured
The Union Health Ministry on Monday informed that India has reported 8,309 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours with 236 deaths due to the infection. A total of 9,905 discharges took place in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cured people to 3,40,08183.
The total active cases of COVID-19 in India has come down to 1,03,859 (lowest in 544 days), ministry data showed today.
Under the nationwide vaccination campaign, more than 122.41 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far.
The total death toll in the country now stands at 4,68,790. In India, the first death due to the COVID pandemic was reported in March 2020.
The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 46 consecutive days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 149 consecutive days.
The ministry said that active cases comprise 0.33 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.32 per cent, the highest since March 2020.
