my government CEO Abhishek Singh, who also heads the Digital India Corporation and National e-Governance Division, said a fund of funds is also being created which will provide financial support to startups at all stages of their growth. Speaking at an event of FICCI ayeSingh said India has a lot of AI-skilled force. “There is a lot of AI research being done in all our academic institutions, we are still far behind China and the US when it comes to AI research. Some initiatives have been taken but we need to go further,” he said. ,
Singh said that the Department of Science and Technology has also set up technology innovation centers under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS).
“But what is being envisioned under the National Program on AI is that India Centers for Transformational AI will be set up. These centers will be set up in partnership with industry and academia. They will be sector specific. Solutions or applications developed out of practice. will be assessed for scaling up across the country,” Singh said.
Telangana’s Industries and Commerce Department and IT Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said the state government has guaranteed that any AI solution relevant to the government will be adopted without bidding and irrespective of experience.
He said that more than 30 solutions have been adopted under this scheme of the state government and efforts have been made for projects like e-voting. “The last pillar of our initiative is around governance. Many people can abuse AI. So it is very important to understand what checks and balances are when you use AI. There are many issues related to governance. As a government it is our prime responsibility to set those standards,” Ranjan said. He said that a lot can be achieved by using AI but it should not be at the cost of doing anything wrong, misgovernance etc.
