The ODI World Cup 2023 will be played in India in October and November as the world gears up for the ultimate glory in cricket. Meanwhile, a big update has come regarding India’s matches against Australia and Pakistan. According to Cricbuzz, India will play their first match of the tournament against Australia and the venue could be Chennai. Furthermore, the report states that India and Pakistan will face off on October 15.
Meanwhile, the first match of the tournament will not feature India as the first match is to be played between 2019 winners England and runners-up New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The two finalists will clash in the opener on 5 October. Also, the final of the tournament will be played on November 19 at the same venue in Ahmedabad. Notably, the BCCI is yet to release the schedule for the same and is likely to do so after the Indian Premier League.
It is learned that Pakistan has agreed to tour India for the tournament regardless of the ongoing impasse in the Asia Cup. However, he has expressed some objections. The PCB has objections to playing the match against India in Ahmedabad, but has agreed to play the final if they reach there.
The World Cup is scheduled to be played at a dozen venues in India. The temporary venues to host World Cup matches include Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Delhi, Indore, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Rajkot, Raipur and Mumbai.
