South Africa captain Temba Bavuma heaped heavy praise on Quinton de Kock when the wicket-keeper batsman scored a crucial 78 to lay the foundation for a 7-wicket win over India. South Africa sealed the three-match series 2-0 as de Kock was named man of the match for his counter-attacking innings on Friday.
After winning the series, Bavuma said that he was not expecting to seal it after the first two games and talked about the positives.
“Very happy. We wanted to win the series and weren’t really expecting to do that after 2 matches. There is a lot of positive to be taken from our performance. It was great to have him (QDK) in the team and he made us miss us again.” Shows why he is such a valuable player to us,” Bavuma said in a post-match presentation.

Bavuma said that the South African team is not dependent on individual talent and the team works hard to put in the effort.
“We have a lot of faith and confidence in our ability as a team. We are not a team that prides itself on being a superstar or relying on individual performance. We really try and make a team effort,” he said.
The South African captain praised the spinners for doing the work for the team.
“Coming into this series from the Test side, nobody had more faith in us and that inspired us a lot. The performance in the last month has been really good. The spinners have done a great job. This is a very good thing. We take pride in fast bowlers, but watching spin bowlers win games for us really pits us against a team,” Bavuma said.
He further added that South Africa will try to complete the whitewash in the third and final ODI of the series.
“I enjoy captaincy and I’ve enjoyed it since domestic cricket. I look at it to forget about myself and try how I can inspire other people in the team. 3-0 2 Sounds a lot better than -1,” he concluded.
