India will soon launch the world’s first DNA vaccine for Kovid. All you need to know

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to the nation on Saturday said that the world’s first DNA vaccine against Kovid-19 will soon be available for the vaccination campaign. The DNA vaccine manufactured by pharmaceutical company Zydus Cadila received emergency use authorization in August to supply 10 million doses of ZyCoV-D (the world’s first plasmid DNA vaccine).

The world’s first DNA vaccine will be administered using a needle-free applicator called “Pharmajet” as opposed to conventional syringes. A needle-free applicator ensures painless intradermal vaccine delivery, leading to a significant reduction in any major side effects.

zydus cadilla Government of India has received an order to supply one crore doses of ZyCoV-D 265 per dose and needle free applicator is being offered 93 per dose, excluding GST.

Three doses of ZyCoV-D are to be given at an interval of 28 days.

yesterday, PM Modi Also announced three other big decisions including introducing vaccination for children in the age group of 15-18 from 3rd January. He said that from January 10, 2022, a booster dose of the vaccine will be introduced for health care and frontline workers. Citizens above 60 years of age experiencing co-morbidities will have the option of taking a precautionary dose on the advice of their doctor.
