Indian American Raj Subramaniam to be the new CEO of FedEx

Indian American Raj Subramaniam will be the new CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of FedEx. The US multinational courier service major made an announcement in this regard on Monday. Indian American will replace Frederick W Smith, who is set to step down on June 1, 2022.

Raj Subramaniam will succeed President and CEO Frederick W Smith, who will step down on June 1. Smith will now be its acting chairman.

Welcoming Raj into his new role, Smith said in a statement, “As we look forward, I am very satisfied that a leader of Raj Subramaniam’s potential will lead FedEx into a very successful future. “

In his new role, Smith said he looks forward to the board’s administration as well as focusing on issues of global importance, including sustainability, innovation and public policy. Smith founded FedEx in 1971.

Following the announcement, Raj Subramaniam said in a statement issued by FeEx, “Fred is a visionary leader and a legend in the business world. He founded one of the world’s largest and most admired companies, and it is an honor and a privilege to have me.” Fortunately, she stepped into the role and built on what she had created.”

Headquartered out of Tennessee, FedEx has 600,000 employees globally.

Subramaniam was elected to FedEx’s board of directors in 2020 and will retain his seat on the board, the company said.

FedEx Corp. Prior to his role as the Chairman and CEO of the company, Subramaniam was the President and CEO of FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company. He joined FedEx Corp. Also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of the Company, where he was responsible for developing corporate strategy.

In addition, he served as President of FedEx Express in Canada and in several other management and marketing roles throughout Asia and the Americas since joining FedEx in 1991.
