“A high-level meeting of the Ministry of Defense has approved the acquisition of about 120 missiles for the armed forces and their redeployment on the ranges,” senior defense sources told Eni. Both China and Pakistan have ballistic missiles which are of strategic position.
Sources have said that the missiles developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization are being developed and its range can be reduced significantly if the Army is bothered. The development of missile systems in the country began around 2015 and the development of such a capability was promoted by disabled General Bipin Rawat as a senior leader.
The missile was successfully tested twice last year on December 21 and December 22.
Pralay is a semi-ballistic surface-to-surface missile. This advanced missile has been developed in such a way that it is capable of defeating interceptor missiles. It has the ability to change course after covering a certain distance in between.
Pralay is powered by a solid propellant rocket motor and other innovative technologies. The missile guidance system includes sensing and integrated avionics. This missile will first be included in the Indian Air Force. After this it is likely to join the Indian Army.
The proposal has been approved at the level of the Ministry of Defence. The way has been paved for its creation and induction into the armed forces.
Defense watchers say such a missile system could be used to establish and undermine long-range enemy air defense systems, among other high-value targets.
