‘All That Breathes’ is now in the running to win an Oscar in the ‘Documentary Feature Film’ category this year.
Directed by filmmaker Shaunak Sen, the film revolves around the lives of siblings Mohammed Saud and Nadeem Shahzad, who set out to rescue and treat injured birds, especially black kites, from their abandoned basement in Wazirabad, Delhi. Let’s work
The documentary is nominated for ‘All the Beauty and the Bloodshed’, ‘Fire of Love’, ‘A House Made of Splinters’ and ‘Navalny’.
This is not the first time that this film has brought laurels to the country. Last year, ‘All That Breathes’ won the 2022 L’Oeil d’Or, the festival’s top prize for documentaries in Cannes 2022.
The 90-minute-long film was chosen as the winner by a jury consisting of Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland, Ukrainian writer-director Irina Tsilik, French actor Pierre Deladonchamps, journalist Alex Vicente and Moroccan writer-filmmaker Hicham Fallah.
Not only this, another Indian film ‘The Elephant Whispers’ also made it to the Oscar nomination list this year. The film has been nominated in the ‘Documentary Short Film Category’.
The short documentary film is currently streaming on the OTT platform Netflix. The 41-minute long film is directed by Kartiki Gonsalves. The story of the film revolves around a family who adopts two orphaned baby elephants in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, Tamil Nadu.
The film was titled ‘Haul Out’, ‘How Do You Measure a Year?’ nominated against. ‘The Martha Mitchell Effect,’ and ‘Stranger at the Gate.
